I'm a classically trained trumpet player with deep roots in Symphonic, Jazz, Pop and Latin music styles.
I received a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from Washington State University. After school I settled in Seattle and played with several local bands. I performed as a freelance trumpet player with groups such as The Temptations, The Four Tops, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Seattle’s premier salsa band – Bochinche, The Northwest Symphony, the Kirkland Chanter Orchestra, The Roadside Attraction Big Band, Jazz Police, Orquestra Nueva Era, Soul Provider, Freddie Pink and the Hightops, The Seattle Central Community College Jazz Band, The Hal Sherman Big Band, Brass Band Northwest, Rhythm Syndicate, among many others.
I studied with a variety of world-class teachers including: Arthur Statter, former New York based lead trumpet for several Broadway shows and former principal trumpet with the New York Ballet and NBC Symphony Orchestra; Gerald Webster, internationally known classical trumpet recording artist, educator and author; Gary Harding, internationally acclaimed Latin percussionist and ethnomusicologist. I'm currently working closely with Willie Thomas.
Each summer I spend one of my favorite weeks of the year week at the Centrum Jazz Workshop. At Centrum I have been fortunate enough to work closely with Terrell Stafford, Ingrid Jensen, Jiggs Whigham, Gary Smulyan, Phil Kelly, and Benny Green.
I perform on a Monette Ajna Bb Trumpet, Conn Vintage One Flugel Horn, Bach Stradivarius C Trumpet, and a Schilke Cornet.
